COVID-19 Temporary Closure

As of 12pm March 22 2020, Southport Indoor Pistol Club has been forced to close in accord with “Stage One” of the governments plan to control the spread of COVID-19.

Reopening June 13. This page will be updated with more detail soon.

Many members have contacted the club with questions, so I’ll answer the common ones here.

Q) How will I complete my required pistol competitions?
A) Quote from Weapons Licensing website “Due to closures, recommendations to avoid non-essential gatherings and travel and other impacts arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Authorised Officer has deemed that Category H shooting competition participation for the period 1 March 2020 to 30 June 2020 may be considered interrupted for licence holders for reasons outside of their control.

Accordingly, owners of registered Category H firearms will have the below reduced participation requirements for the 2019-20 financial year (prorated from 1 July 2019 to 29 February 2020).”

Q) Will the Club survive shutting down for 6 months?
A) Under normal circumstances, no. We couldn’t afford the rent for starters. However, our land lord has generously given us a reduction in rent, and there’s several government rescue packages applicable to us to take advantage of. Yes we will be reopening in 6 months, so far as we can tell st this stage.

Q) Is there another club or range I can shoot at?
A) No. Stay home as directed.

Q) I need a PTA Letter. How can I get one?
