Junior Shooters
The Southport Indoor Pistol Club welcomes junior shooters, but please be aware of the following information.

Junior shooters have two opportunities for shooting at SIPC, either as a Junior Member under the direct supervision of a licensed club member, or on our dedicated Wednesday night competition which is open to members and non-members alike.

The minimum age to shoot at SIPC is 12 years old, and a parent or guardian MUST be present and supply their details before the child is allowed on the range. If you are licensed and would like to supervise your child's shooting outside of our dedicated competition then both you and the child must be financial members. Junior Membership is $120.00 for the first year, with a yearly renewal fee $60.00 up to the age of 18 years. At this time full membership will be required.

To answer a common question - an individual is not allowed to own a firearm until they are 18 years old. As 18 is the minimum age to apply for a firearms license all shooters below this age will require 1-on-1 supervision by a licensed member when handling or shooting a firearm. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Please note that we are not a child care facility - we expect the parent / guardian to show an active interest in the sport with the child and to look after them at all times they are not under the direct control of the range officer on duty. Any abuse of this club by parents/guardians will result in the membership being cancelled.
